Pinewood Frames

About the workshop

Pinewood Frames started as a weekend project: framing our own prints because nothing in the shops fit them properly. Friends asked for frames, then friends of friends, and the weekend project slowly took over the garage.

We work with a small set of tools and a lot of patience. Mouldings are cut on a table saw and router table, corners are mitred and reinforced with splines, and every frame is finished by hand. We would rather make fewer frames well than many frames quickly.

Where we can, we use reclaimed timber: floorboards, beams and offcuts from local joiners. New wood comes from suppliers who can tell us where it grew.

We do not keep stock. Every frame is made for a specific piece, so lead times depend on the queue. We reply to every message, usually within a couple of days.
